Millie shoot City in London

I had the pleasure of doing a shoot will Millie a former Bride of mine, the brief was for a forthcoming website. We had a blast as we found a location near Liverpool St, apart from the stylist who was with us there seemed to be a heavy police presence. We then found out we were in an alleyway that backed on to two police stations one which was home to the terrorist squad!
The shoot lasted a couple of hours and we got some great images.

After a lovely ceremony drinks were had on the terrace overlooking the stunning views of Richmond Park.

Well we set off to Leez Priory in Essex to photograph the wedding of Fiona and Craig.

The weather turned out lovely and a great time was had by all.
The Ceremony was held outside and as the Bride arrived the sun peeked through.

Channel 5 were there to record a few moments for a slot on Channel 5 news about a programme they are doing with me.

After a hog roast the evening finished with a fireworks display and dancing.

Go ahead, you know you want to. Trash it. Get it dirty. Get it wet. Roll around in the mud. Drench it in the sea. Totally trash it.
Why? … Why not? You’ve made a commitment to your husband. He’s your one and only true love, right? Then you’ll never need the dress again. And no, your daughter won’t wear it in 20-30 years.

So you have two choices:
1) Suffocate it in plastic and throw it in a cupboard 2) Show your husband how committed you are by trashing the dress, and get some great fun pictures while you do it!

I know, you probably read that headline and are thinking, “What!!!???!!!” Trash the dress photo sessions are not for the faint of heart. It’s a photo session done AFTER the wedding and honeymoon are over to symbolically show your husband that you will NEVER need your wedding dress again. The purpose of the photo shoot is to get some very creative and different photos of you in your dress.

Had the pleasure of spending a day with two masters of wedding photography at a seminar on Monday.

Yervant is from Australia, he is esteemed as one of the most influential photographers of the last decade with his avant-garde approach to what is typically a traditional industry, Yervant’s images are now renowned for their signature mode.

Joe Buissink from America who has covered weddings for many celebrities including Kelsey Grammer and Jennifer Lopez.

It was a fantastic day and I came away with lots of thoughts.

Bank Holiday Weekend

Hi all

Looking forward to the Bank Holiday weekend.

Photographing the wedding of Mei Ho and Richard at the picturesque Gosfield Hall in Essex.

If the weather stays like it is (Sunny) we will stock up on bottles of water.

Off to a four day horse show in Cambridgeshire on Thursday, this is the first major western show of the season.

Now all the training has been done and horses have been groomed, the final prep will be started this morning, this is of course loading the horsebox with supplies of Pimms and wine!

Gerry and Ian's Wedding

We had a great day for the wedding of Gerry and Ian. The weather stayed nice and sunny for the couple.

My assistant Gemma and I set off to Richmond Park to leave our car at the reception venue which was Pembroke Lodge.

We were greeted by Millie who was organising the final preparations, we then jumped in a waiting taxi to do the prep shots at the hotel before jumping into another taxi to get to Wandsworth Registry office.

Finally, together with guests, had a twenty minute trip by veteran bus to the magnificent Pembroke Lodge which is set in the beautiful grounds of Richmond Park.

The bridal party were greeted by Frank and his team who took care of the celebrations.

I have finished a commissioned landscape taken in Austria, 5ft x 3ft in size, it is going to take pride of place in a clients lounge.

Just returned from a wedding in Austria, fantastic scenery and although cold, not as cold as UK!

Kelly and Danny had a great day and included a 2 hour sleigh ride into the mountains before the evening festivities including a superb firework display.

I have been busy designing an album for Parkstead House so they can show prospective clients images taken of the venue.

A beautiful 8x8 hand made metal cover 20 page album with templated images has been put forward for approval

Off to Clacton we went, hoping the weather would be good after the rains.

We arrived early around 9am to check out the church etc and then onto breakfast.

After pictures it was back the Gatehouse for the reception.

Jugglers, Fire eaters, stiltwalkers etc all in the beautiful sunshine.

Quartets and bands played throughout the day.

This weekends wedding

I am looking forward to the wedding of Natasha and David this weekend.

My assistant Katie is excited too.

Such a lovely family, I had the pleasure of taking images for their guest book a few months back(can't show pics yet as they will not see them until Saturday).

The preparation that has gone into this wedding has been immense.

Katie and I will be leaving for the venue at 8am to arrive in Clacton, Essex early.

This will enable us to get some breakfast,check out the church etc beforehand.

The wedding is at 12.30 but we will be at the brides house and reception venue around 10am taking detail shots and familiarising ourselves with the layout of marquees etc.

It will be a long day as we are booked until 10pm,but can't wait to start and capture the days events as they unfold.

I am compiling and editing their musical DVD, will also get to work on designing the layout of the images they chose, ready for their hand made album which will will be ordered from Australia.

I have been supplying these for over a year now and the demand has been fantastic.

Sourced from America they are available in many colours and covered in fabric or leather.

The front cover can be engraved or supplied with an image as shown.

The idea of these guest books is to get away from the old fashioned picture in a frame, which is signed on entrance to the wedding breakfast.

I design the book with images I have taken or photographs the bride and groom have selected from their own archives, maybe from childhood to present day.

On the day of the wedding the guest book is passed from table to table and comments are written by the guests for you to treasure at a later date. This is a lovely keepsake of your big day.

Have been compiling a musical wedding DVD and preview booklet for Charlotte and James wedding ready for when they return from honeymoon.

Spoilt myself today and purchased the latest Nikon digital lens to add to my ever growing collection. Well you have to keep up with the latest developments, don't you?

Just got back from Charlotte and James's wedding at Roehampton.
We had a great day with such a lovely couple and their guests.

Starting off at St.Mary's Church in Wimbledon, a striking spacious church and then to Parkstead House for the reception.

The weather was overcast with snippets of sunshine and we had the stunning backdrop of Parkstead House and the view of Richmond Park.

Lorraine Butler from Parkstead was making sure everything was running smoothly and to plan as usual.

Off to Wimbledon

All ready for the Wedding of Charlotte & James to be held in Wimbledon, near the famous Wimbledon Tennis club tomorrow(Saturday).

Then we are off to Parkstead House for the reception in Roehampton.

The weather is set to be good according to the weather report (we all know we can't rely on those).

Final alterations to my website tonight so you folks can read this blog, just a matter of adding another button to make navigation easier on my site

Nick and Danielle's wedding, which was earlier during the year, has now come to conclusion with the upgrade of their album.

They chose a beautiful hand made album complete with leather spine and covered in louisiana pink fabric, it is absolutely stunning.

Sourced in Australia as most of my albums are (can't get the quality in the UK!) it will be a cherished keepsake for years to come.

Well now that the weekend is over it's time to go through my wedding images and make selections, compile musical CD and preview booklet for my last wedding , Some 8hrs work , good job I wake up early!

I have a commercial job for the local council to take images of a cabinet minister presenting grant cheques to various organisations at midday. This will give me a short break from the wedding above.

I can continue with the wedding the rest of today and tomorrow finalise everything and put an online gallery on my website.(I might get a chance to eat some food too).. I find it so exciting seeing the completed wedding images, there are always certain images I take that I can't wait to see how they look converted to black & white or maybe toned in some way.

Just received an email from the session I did with the cabinet minister

"Hi, Ashley

Many thanks for your lovely pictures, and your prompt response, they do you credit. My manager Norman is really pleased with the outcome. I'm just arranging payment with our Finance Dept. via a payment on your invoice, and they said they would rush it through to you. O.K.Regards"

Well isn't that nice, just shows if you give a good service clients are happy.

My First Blog

So this is it my first blog, My wedding on Saturday was in a lovely listed building overlooking Richmond Park on the outskirts of London, Maritz and Sarah are a very laid back couple and were a delight to work with.

Some great images were taken on the day.

After the wedding my assistant and I drove back through the congested London traffic (I am sure it is getting worse) according to my Sat nav the trip was to be one and a half hours - in real life terms it was nearer three!

So, Sunday time to relax at a horse show as Amanda my wife and I enjoy riding.
The weather was absolutely scorching and we had a great day competing.
